Meet Attorney General Catherine Hanaway

Catherine was born and raised in rural Nebraska, where she learned the values of hard work, family, faith, and country. Catherine and her husband Chris have built a life and raised two wonderful children, Lucy and John, in St. Louis. Catherine was called to the Conservative movement and led Missouri Republicans to a majority in the state house in 2002, the first Republican majority in nearly 50 years. She made history as the first and only woman elected Speaker of the House. As Speaker, she passed legislation to strengthen public safety, protect Second Amendment rights, and promote government accountability, establishing her reputation as a strong defender of Missourians’ freedoms.

After being Speaker of the House, Catherine served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri. She personally tried cases to jury verdicts and led the development of new prosecution strategies in complex healthcare, fraud, and white-collar crime cases. As the chief federal law enforcement officer for the region, she oversaw more than 4,000 criminal and civil cases: prosecuting murderers, fraudsters, and child offenders.

Now, as your Attorney General, Catherine is committed to upholding the rule of law, defending the Constitution, and making Missouri safe.

Every day, I fight to uphold the law and protect Missouri families, because safety, justice, and accountability aren’t negotiable in my book.”
